The Barcelona Half Marathon is the perfect race for anyone who wants to run fast by the sea. Its flat, coastal, well-designed course has made it one of the most sought-after half marathons on the European winter calendar.

Whether you're running it or reliving the course you already ran, this guide explains where it goes, what its profile looks like and what you'll find in each section.

21 km with the Mediterranean as the star

The Barcelona Half Marathon is one of the most beautiful urban races of the winter. Unlike the marathon, which climbs into the Eixample, the half goes for the sea: much of the route runs along the coast, with the Mediterranean in the background through the decisive kilometres.

The Born, Barceloneta and Port Olímpic

The course crosses the Born, reaches Barceloneta and runs through Port Olímpic and the Olympic Village. These are the neighbourhoods born with the 1992 Games that turned Barcelona into a city facing the sea. Running here, with the sea breeze and the skyline behind, is one of the great draws of the race.

A fast course for a personal best

With no notable climbs and February's mild weather, the Barcelona Half Marathon is an ideal setting to improve your time. The quick, well-designed course lets you hold your pace from start to finish without surprises.
